Poem: Address, by Ee Tiang Hong

Address

Riding on air in American car comfort
So big you will not even feel a stir,
Will your coxcomb ever bend again
To the wonder of the people?
Who remember how in the darkness of their slumber
You perched, flapping your wings on the stakes
To crow a struggling *fajar in.

Ee Tiang Hong

*fajar: Malay word, derived from Arabic, meaning 'dawn.'
