Montréal, Marché Bonsecours...

View of the Montreal Market, Dome

When I was in Montreal for the Rogers Cup (Coupe Rogers, as they say) I took a day off from tennis to do something touristy. I took the subway to Vieux Montréal, and after a while I happened upon this building, the Marché Bonsecours. Inside of the market building (under the dome), there are two levels of shops. I gave up after wandering the first floor. Sensory, and budget, overload!

"For more than 100 years, it was the main public market in the Montreal area. It also briefly accommodated the Parliament of United Canada for one session in 1849."

Montral, March Bonsecours

There are doors leading out towards the river, and once you climb down the wide stairs you can wander over to the port area, to do more shopping and stare at all of the pleasure craft.

Vieux-Port de Montral

On the way there, of course, there are many calèche (horse-drawn carriages)...very colourful, and each is different.

There are some beautiful spots, and one or two days of tourism makes me feel as if I only scratched the surface...
